Junior rep fundraising 💰
We all know that playing at junior rep tournaments is a great experience but we also know that the costs of participation are increasing all the time. As explained on the junior rep levy page, the club has costs such as supplying referees which are not covered in tournament fees. To keep our junior rep levy to a minimum this year, we are asking that our junior rep families participate in fundraising through an upcoming senior rep tournament at our fields.
On the weekend of Saturday, 28th October and Sunday, 29th October 2023, the Hornets Regionals tournament will be held at our Newcastle City Touch fields. With more than 50 senior teams playing, we are expecting over 1500 people per day to be at our fields. This is a great opportunity to fundraise through our canteen but we need your help.
The general plan is to run our canteen with a BBQ offering:
- 🥓 bacon and 🥚 eggs in the morning; and
- 🌭 sausages and 🥩 steak sandwiches for lunch.
At this stage, we are planning to have the BBQ operating from 8am to 2pm and then just be selling pre-cooked food, drinks or other items after that.
What do we need?
We need around 4 volunteers per junior team to each take on a shift on the Saturday or Sunday, either on the BBQ or within the canteen. This will give us enough to have 5 people when the BBQ is going and 2 people when it is not. The shifts are planned to be:
- 7:30am – 10am
- 10am – 12:30pm
- 12:30pm – 3pm
We may adjust these times slightly once the draw is available.
Some notes to cover off some questions:
- You are welcome to offer to do more than one shift on a day or across the 2 days. Each shift taken adds to our coverage.
- Junior rep players are welcome to help out in the canteen but they must be at least in year 7.
- We know some families have kids in multiple teams so volunteer for one or all of them – we don’t care as long as we have enough volunteers.
Pre-made wraps and fruit salad 🥙🍓
Another fundraising opportunity is to sell pre-made wraps and fruit salad from the canteen. The club would pay for the ingredients and you would help make them the day before, ready for sale. We would need to determine quantities beforehand but our goal would be to sell out each day to minimise wasteage.
Return and Earn ♻️
With many thirsty participants, there are often lots of drinks sold at touch football tournaments and therefore hundreds of empty cans and bottles. To encourage recycling and reduce waste, we would love these to be collected during the days and deposited as a fundraising opportunity. If a specific group or individual wants to organise this, please let us know. We would be happy for someone to do this just so we can reduce what goes to landfill and you can retain the money received to do as you please.
