7s skills session and first game – Sunday, 12th October 🎉

We are so excited to finally welcome our youngest players to the sport! This coming Sunday we will run a basic 30 minute skills session for all 7s teams followed by their first game (Round 1) and a BBQ afterwards.

Location 📍

All games on Sunday will be played at our main fields within the Newcastle Harness Racing Club at New Lambton. Please see our location page for a detailed description of how to get to our main fields, where to park and field numbers.

Draw 📅

Games on Sunday are at 5pm, 5:30pm or 6pm. Here are the links to the draws – you just need to know the name of the team your child is playing in:

The draw will tell you the time you play and the field number (see location section for a link to the field map).

Note: Both boys and girls 7s have uneven teams so we may have scheduled for your team to play two games, one after another, so everyone gets a game. The teams with two games on Sunday are:

  • B7s: Lightning, Snap Dragons, Try-ceratops
  • G7s: Speedy Divas

Skills Session 🏉

Your skills session will be before your game. We ask that you arrive one hour earlier than your game time in order to get ready for the skills session. This will give you ample time to purchase a playing singlet, if required, before the skills session.

Teams with first game scheduled at 5pm

  • B7s: Great Whites, Lightning, Mudpups, Zoomers
  • G7s: Speedy Divas, Dudley Dolphins
  • Arrive from 4pm to purchase singlet, meet at junior clubhouse from 4:15pm so we can get everyone organised and move onto the fields to start the skills session by 4:30pm.

Teams with first game scheduled at 5:30pm

  • B7s: Seven Wonders, Snap Dragons, Try-ceratops
  • G7s: Rainbow Bunnies, Sparkly Unicorns, Superstars
  • Arrive from 4:30pm to purchase singlet, meet at junior clubhouse from 4:45pm so we can get everyone organised and move onto the fields to start the skills session by 5pm.

Teams with first game scheduled at 6pm

  • B7s: Hamilton Hounds, Little Rippers, Titans, Wildcats
  • G7s: Pumas, Quick Quokkas
  • Arrive from 5pm to purchase singlet, meet at junior clubhouse from 5:15pm so we can get everyone organised and move onto the fields to start the skills session by 5:30pm.

See our location page if you don’t know where the junior clubhouse is.

Playing gear 🎽

The basic playing gear is:

  • Reversible playing singlet
  • Any shorts/tights – colour is not important.
  • Most standard football boots or joggers.

For the reversible playing singlet, wear BLUE if your team is on the left in the draw, RED if you team is on the right. See our uniform page for more details.

Haven’t got a reversible playing singlet yet? You will be able to purchase one on Sunday from the main clubhouse for $28 – card payments only. Note: we may have pre-loved singlets available for $10 in limited sizes and quantities – please ask when you come in. If you can’t make it on Sunday, singlets are also available for purchase from the main clubhouse on competition nights: Mondays (from 4:45pm), Tuesdays & Thursdays (from 6:30pm).

BBQ 🌭

After the game, all 7s players may enjoy a FREE sausage sandwich. So we don’t run out for players, excess sausages will be available for family members to purchase after the last time slot only.

Scoring ✍️

There is no scoring, ladders or finals for 7s.

Round 2 and beyond ⏩

The following is the general plan for the remaining 7s games:

  • Round 2 for 7s will follow on Tuesday, 14th October at what we call our “extra fields“. This is a nearby location so please make sure you know where the extra fields are.
  • Note: Both boys and girls 7s have uneven teams so we may have scheduled for your team to play two games, one after another, so everyone gets a game. There are no byes for any teams in these age groups.
  • All remaining games will be at the extra fields with the final round on Tuesday, 2nd December.
