2026 Junior Comp Game Day Guide (9s-17s) 🎉

We love game day, organised chaos with over a thousand people coming to the field. This guide is mainly for first-timers but we ask that even returning families skim through it.

Draw 📅

The draw is available via the Touch Football Australia website. You just need to know which age group your child is playing in and their team name. The field numbers are shown on the map below. Some notes:

• B11s have been split into 3 groups: BLUE, RED & WHITE. Please check each one to find your team.
• For some age groups we have only scheduled the first 3 weeks and will review the draw after this based on results.

Playing gear 🏉

The basic playing gear is:

• Reversible playing singlet – see below for purchase instructions.
• Any shorts/tights – colour is not important.
• Most standard football boots or joggers.

Haven’t got a reversible playing singlet yet? You can purchase one from the junior clubhouse before your game. New singlet is $30. Also $22.50 with trade-in of clean, S-Trend singlet your child has outgrown or $15 for second-hand stock if available. Card payments only. Come 30 minutes before your game to beat the rush on the first night.

For the reversible playing singlet, wear BLUE if your team is on the left in the draw, RED if you team is on the right. See our uniform page for more details.

Location & Parking 📍

Our fields are located within the Newcastle Harness Racing Club. This is just to the east of McDonald Jones Stadium (i.e. where the Knights and Jets play). There are two entrances:

• Drive from Turton Rd, separate entrances for northbound and southound traffic. Park to the north of McDonald Jones Stadium.
• Drive in via Jackson St and park in the Newcastle Harness Racing Club parking area to the south of the track.

Safety 🦺

Please always follow directions from our amazing volunteers – we are acting in the interests of safety for all concerned and our conditions of use for the facility. Some key things:

• Do not cross the track until after 4:30pm and never do so if there are horses on the track
• Use gates only – do not climb over the fences.
• No playing on track – only use the track to cross to and from the fields.
• Use spectator zones – please stand clear of fields and sidelines for the safety of all. Particularly take care when walking between fields to keep clear of the playing area.
• No dogs – whether on or off leash.
• No bikes/e-bikes/scooters – they can damage the track and fields so are not allowed on either.

Scoring ✍️

There is no scoring, ladders or finals for 7s and 9s. For 11s and older, our referees will keep track of tries scored.

Wet weather 🌧️

Please see our Facebook page for details on wet weather conditions. If there is no notification, you should assume that games are on.

Above all, we want the kids to have fun whilst keeping active. We think touch football is a great sport and we hope your child loves it. Let’s make sure that all comments to players, referees, spectators and volunteers is kept positive so everyone enjoys their experience at the fields.
