About Representative
Players who want to test their skills beyond the park level competition are encouraged to trial for representative team pathways. There are a number of levels of representation at both the junior and senior levels. Representative teams cover all age groups from under 8’s to over 60’s. There are divisions for girls, boys, women, men and mixed.
All players must participate in the local competition to qualify for the representative pathways. We currently compete in Vawdon Cup, Hornets Regional Championships, Country Championships, NSW State Cup, Don Green Western Junior Championships, Peter Wilson Memorial Championships and NSW Northern Junior State Cup.

All players who would like to trial for the 2026 senior representative teams please nominate below.
Trial Dates:
Sunday 19th July – Senior Teams
Teams: Senior/Masters Mixed, Men’s 30’s 40s, 50s & 60s, Women’s 30’s, 40’s, 45s and 50’s
Men’s 50’s/60’s- 1pm
Men’s 30’s/40’s- 4pm
Senior/Masters Mixed- 4pm
Women’s 30’s/40’s/45’s/50’s- 11am
Monday 20th July – U20’s and Opens
6:30pm–8:30pm
Teams: U20s Men’s and Women’s, and Opens Men’s, Women’s & Mixed
Please arrive 15mins prior to start time to sign in at the clubhouse.
Eligibility Requirement:
All representative players must be registered in a Newcastle City social competition and must play a minimum of 5 games in either the 2026 Winter or 2026 Spring/Summer competitions.
Opens (Men’s and Women’s): Born 2011 or earlier
U20s (Boys and Girls): Born 2006–2012
Please nominate by Saturday 18th July, even if you are unable to attend the trials. If you are unavailable, please complete the inability to trial form that will be emailed to all players once nominations close.

What is the cost?
Representative competition is a great experience, however there are costs involved that you should be aware of. The following items are to be paid per player (note: any listed costs are indicative only and may vary).

These are fees as set by tournament directors, are not included in the representative player levy and must be paid separately. This covers tournament costs including field hire and insurance. 2025 costs are not available as yet, but these are estimates based on previous years:

As an Affiliate of New South Wales Touch Association, State policies apply to our Affiliate.
Selection Criteria
To be eligible for participation in NSWTA representative events, you must be registered and have played in the clubs current or most previous season to date. These seasons are defined by the Events: General Conditions of Entry 2025-26 (1).pdf
Uniform
Full club uniforms must be worn when competing/coaching/managing at NSWTA events. Players/coaches/manages will be requested to leave the field by tournament officials until uniform compliance is met.
TFA Policies
As an Affiliate of New South Wales Touch Association, National policies apply to our Affiliate.
Pathways
2020 Inferno National Touch League on YouTube
Region
There is an opportunity for players who excel in competitions like Vawdon and State Cup to play higher amongst the best in their region through the Inferno National Touch League (NTL). NTL is a nationwide tournament held annually in Coffs Harbour NSW. The annual four-day event allows 13 regional permits from across Australia to compete in Open, Mixed and Masters as well as All Abilities divisions.
State
Touch State of Origin is the best-of-three series between the best NSW & QLD Touch Football teams. Opens and Masters divisions are included in this event.

National
The NRL Touch Premiership is an annual elite competition consisting of mens and womens teams representing NRL clubs throughout the NRL season. In addition to that, there is also the NRL All-Stars competition to cater to our indigenous participants. This is where the best indigenous Australian & Maori touch player go head to head for a cultural clash.
Trans-Tasman
Finally, we have the Trans-Tasman Test Series, where a best-of-three series between Australia and New Zealand is played. The divisions include mens, womens and mixed. A Youth Trans-Tasman for Under 18s and Under 20’s is held annually as well a Masters series available for older divisions.
